Fear Free Certification

Whether your feline is experiencing symptoms of an illness or you are simply bringing her or him in for a regular check-up, the last thing on your mind is probably your pet’s emotional well-being.

While driving with a crying cat can be distracting, and you may be aware of the stress it causes you from home to clinic, you may not think about the effects the same stress is having on your furry family member.

Many cats are anxious about their trip to the vet – for a variety of reasons. At Just Cats Veterinary Clinic, we understand that a cat’s emotional health is just as important as their physical health, and stress can have a detrimental effect on wellness, just as in humans.

Stress can also hinder our assessment or treatment of a condition. At the very least, it can make it more difficult. So we strive for the least stressful visit for both you and your cat.

That’s why we are proud to announce that Dr. Denise Petersen completed her Fear-Free Certification! The Fear-Free Certification’s mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them.

“Becoming Fear Free Certified, has transformed how I practice veterinary medicine. Our patients really appreciate that we are aware and consider their emotional needs, ” according to Dr. Peterson.

Every staff member at Just Cats takes pride in giving you and your cat the best experience possible during every vet visit. Our doctors and support staff share what they learn through programs like the Fear-Free Certification. And we continuously keep up on all the latest education, not just about your cat’s physical health, but his or her mental health as well.
